Product description

Author: Wojciech Marchlewski

Mennonites, also known as Hollanders, came to the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth at the end of the 16th century and settled in the Lower Vistula Valley. They differed from the locals in their way of life; their clothes, songs, shape and decor of their houses were unique even in the then multicultural Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. It was no different with their cuisine: simple, rustic, based on local products and bearing the marks of many cultures – including Polish. The numerous culinary recipes collected in the book present in an interesting way the sources and migrations of the culinary tradition rooted in the 16th century in the marshy areas of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
